How to choose a wedding videographer

Choosing a wedding videographer can be a difficult task. I have written this intel as a reference for those of you with such a task at hand.

Here's a list of things to consider when choosing a videographer:

1. Cost
2. Size of wedding
3. Number of helpers
4. On-site Expectations
5. Experience

COST
This is one of the most important factors, therefore I have listed it first. A good starting question is can you afford a wedding videographer. Of course if you cannot, then you might want to decide against hiring one for your wedding!

SIZE OF WEDDING
The size of your wedding should be a consideration as to whether or not you should hire a wedding videographer. Keep in mind they'll need enough room to set up several video cameras and they might want room for separate lighting as well! If you have an already congested reception or ceremony room, you might want to pass.

NUMBER OF HELPERS
I will venture to say that all goodwedding videographers will have at least one helper to assist them. If they're really good, they'll even bring several people: 1-3 extra people for additional video angles and 1-3 extra for things such as set-up, tear down, lights, holding microphones, etc.

ON SITE EXPECTATIONS
It is a good idea for you and your fiancee to write out your expectations of your videographer, should you choose to hire one. Once that's done, be sure to find a videographer that's willing to work with you on your terms. If not, then consider choosing a different videographer.

EXPERIENCE
Choose a good videographer that has lots of experience! Nothing can make up for a poorly-experienced wedding videographer. Take it from me: You don't want to find out too late that your wedding videographer was using your wedding as an "experience-building" event! You can never re-create the event of your wedding, so capturing it right, the first time, is vital! Choose a videographer with good references and experience.
