How to save money in your everyday living

Ever do your finances and wonder where all the money went? Are you concerned about the stock market's volatility? Does the lost value of the dollar and increased cost of gas have you concerned?

By utilizing any of the following tips, you can easily begin to start saving money today! Look them over and decide which ones you'll consider using to begin on the path of savings.

TURN THE LIGHTS OFF!
This is a great way to save energy and save money. Instead of leaving the lights on in the house, turn them off when you leave. Also, try simply purchasing low-wattage bulbs. In the short term it will cost to buy them but in the long run it will save you $$$.

TURN YOUR COMPUTER OFF!
More and more people simply leave their computer and monitor on even when it's not in use. Try shutting it down and turning the monitor off to save energy and money.

CHECK YOUR WATER USAGE!
A slowly dripping faucet or toilet can end up using 3 gallons of water in a day! By making sure that everything is fully turned off and isn't leaking, you could save yourself 3 gallons of water and, thus, save money.

DON'T BUY BRAND NAME FOODS
In my other intel (found here), I discussed how most of the time people can't even tell the difference between brand name and off-brand name soft drinks. The same is true of other drinks and of food. Try experimenting sometime with no-name brand food and see if you like it. If you do, then you could end up saving a TON of money over the course of a year.

DON'T MAKE QUICK DECISIONS WITH YOUR MONEY
Honestly assess yourself and decide whether or not those new clothes are really "necessary." Do this for all of your purchases and you could easily save yourself hundreds of dollars a month. If it's something that is needed for survival, a bill or something that you previously saved up for, then BUY IT! But, if it's something that you found while walking around the mall, then chances are you don't really need it and are a compulsive shopper. Shops, salespeople, advertisements, etc. prey on compulsive shoppers! Don't fall into their traps.

GET RID OF A PHONE LINE
If you're like me, then you probably have one cell phone, and your spouse probably has one cell phone and you might even have additional cell phones for work and the house. Try getting rid of one of them! You could easily save anywhere from $30 to $60 a month by getting rid of an "extra" phone line such as a cell phone or a home phone.

DON'T BUY THE NEWEST CARS OUT THERE
You literally lose THOUSANDS of dollars by simply driving that brand new car off the lot! It is very easy to find someone out there who changed their mind about a car and only had it for a couple months or even a year. Buy it from them...let them pay those extra thousands of dollars to buy it new!

SAVE GAS
Take a look at these two intels for gas saving tips:
PART 1
PART 2

These tips are great ways to save you hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars a year. By doing even simple adjustments in your life, you could be on your way to a comfier retirement, better lifestyle and overall happier financial situation!
