Wedding Websites
By Peter Brown
Wedding websites have been rapidly increasing in popularity. That's probably because they are easy to create and customize and most of them are free! A wedding website is a website that serves many purposes, such as: 1. It announces your wedding 2. It assists in keeping distant relatives and friends up to date with all the latest wedding news 3. It is an expression of who you are 4. It is a source of information for guests- people often look at wedding websites to determine gift registries, see a story of how the couple met, look at videos and / or pictures of the couple together, see where and when the wedding will take place, etc. It's probably because of the above reasons that thousands of wedding websites are being created each and every day. Probably one of the most popular websites that allows you to create a wedding website is theknot.com. Theknot is one of the best known and widely used wedding-related website, and if you haven't heard of it you probably haven't looked much at wedding stuff. (They have ads in magazines, on billboards and everywhere online.) On theknot, as with elsewhere, you have more than one option to create your website. You can either do a free one or a paid one. Here are the pros and cons of paid vs. free wedding websites: PROS and CONS of PAID custom wedding websites: - They cost (CON) - They don't show ads (PRO) - They often have a ton more customization options (PRO) PROS and CONS of FREE custom wedding websites: - They show ads (CON) - They often show advertisements to your visitors (CON) - You can't beat the price- free! (PRO) So depending on what your needs are, you could either have a paid or a free wedding website, but that is totally up to you. Another great website that you might want to check out for this sort of thing is Wedding Orchid. Wedding Orchid has a ton of different wedding website options, and it allows you to add a bunch of things (video, pictures, guestbook, wedding details, etc). Here are some features to try to get when creating a wedding website: 1. Videos/pictures 2. Guestbook 3. Local weather of the wedding location (nice bonus!) 4. Feature that allows guests to RSVP online (saves postage for you!) 5. Polls/comments 6. List of gift registries Good luck and have fun creating your wedding website! |
